I've had ram air for 13 years and pulled carb heat twice in that time - didn't
need it either - but don't know about continentals.

Why invent the wheel - cutting a new extension? There are plenty of untried
things to do on an airplane that make a whole lot more sense - I saw a downed
bird with a broken extension in Nevada - sad

my aerobatic 360 Lycoming had an AD because of the cracks that could
develope due to aerobatic stresses. Granted the Great
