Cozy Girrrls 2nd Annual Early Birds Jambalaya Jam
(a CG / CSA / RAFE group event for Canard Enthusiasts )
=========================================================

If you are coming to Airventure 2021 Ohkosh and are going to be there early in the
week (Tuesday) and hoping to connect with other canardians, this is the place to be!

WHAT's FOR DINNER:
Jambalaya is a Cajun/Creole dish, it is made in a huge cast iron kettle, it is
mildly to somewhat spicy-NOT HOT. Chicken, pork, sausage, veg and rice.
A side of creamy coleslaw comes with it.
Pro Tip: Jambalaya goes really well with ice cold beer.

LOCATION:
We will be at our campsite on North Doolittle providing we get our usual spot
otherwise we will put out the word via grapevine where we will be located,
as always look for the little red truck. Pictures of truck and map at bottom.

WHEN:
Tuesday July 27th, social hour begins around 5 PM BYOB-EER & chair.

$10 "donation" per person, hopefully food prices have not doubled, we'll know when we get there.
PLEASE bring a chair this year!

RSVP:
...as always, this is a test, based on previous years RSVP responses we have determined 70%
of you either drink a lot when you do your email or your skills at following the
simplest of written instructions are questionable, ...even if they come with "M" drawings.
We wish to thank the remaining 30% for making our lives easier.
So, if you are thinking of coming to the dinner, DO NOT HIT THE REPLY BUTTON!
Instead, please send us an email with a one line response:

Please do it like this:

email to: CozyGirrrl@...
Subject: RSVP
Body of text: # of people, name(s), email, cell

EXAMPLE of text: 2, Chrissi, Randi, CozyGirrrl@..., 867-5309

That way there will be enough food and beverage, you wouldn't want to run out would you?
There is a threshold where we may need to make a 2nd pot, so real numbers are important.

IMPORTANT:
1. If you RSVP, please make sure you do receive a "Thank You!" email from us within 48 hours.
2. Assume picnic tables are not available so bring a chair if you are able to scrounge one.
We will try to bring tables and any local people who bring some will be really appreciated!
3. No vehicles, there is absolutely no parking available, you must park in the very near by
BLUE lot and walk.
Towards the end of the day it is free, park up as close as you can get to the corner by the
Fly In Theater there is a walk through, very convenient.
4. Bicycles, golf carts, strollers etc must be off the road and not on our neighbors campsites.
5. We do not know of anyone who will be donating alcohol so feel free to BYOB or pass a
hat and we will make sure there is a run to Walmart for ICE COLD BEER.
There will be coolers full of ice.
6. =No animals!= ,we LOVE animals, just not when & where we are preparing and serving food.
7. If you RSVP in the 10 days before Airventure you will probably not receive an
acknowledgement from us we're either on the road or already there and EAA WiFi is spotty.
8. Count on mosquitoes! Spray yourself.

You will need your chair and maybe a blanket for the movie next door, It is too early
for the schedule to know what the movie will be Tuesday night at the Fly In Theater but it is usually good.
Count on mosquitoes! Spray yourself.
.... or stick around and socialize!

Our trusty band of well trained and highly skilled volunteers look forward to seeing you all there!

Last chance people! We're leaving St Louis and will be on the road to Oshkosh
on Thursday July 15th. Please RSVP before that if you can it would be really helpful
in determining how much to prepare. We are nearing one 15 gallon pot of Jambalaya.
If you want plenty of return trips to the serving line, sign up,
get your canard friends to sign up too and we'll plan on a second pot.

So far we have about 120 RSVP's, keep them coming. Thank you to those who follow
instructions for RSVP format, to the rest of you, please do not build airplanes.

I drove up to Oshkosh the night before Camp Scholler opening day to make certain we'd have
the usual site for the dinner, mission accomplished! It is beautiful up there.

Dear Canardians,

We hate to break a long running tradition but for unforeseen reasons we cannot make it to Oshkosh this year and therefore cannot host a Canard Dinner this year.

See you next year!

If y'all haven't done the math just yet, the Cozy-3 build in the Aeroplane Workshop at OSH will be quite understaffed this year.  If anybody has a few hours to spare extolling the virtues of the canard design to the public, contact me for details.

I can guarantee you'll receive a highly valued EAA volunteer T-shirt, all the mystery meat sammy's you can stomach (pun intended) including wa-wa and other bottled drinks, as well as the priceless admiration of fellow canard builders/owners/drivers.

As to the laid back dinner at The Roxy Super Club in downtown OSH, it's still on. Text/email me with a yea/nay, and expected head count. Menu will be later, anticipate we'll get the entire banquet room this time.

Hey Rick!

Count me in for at least a day, maybe two at the workshop, plus 3 for the dinner at Roxy’s.

All:

I emailed Roxy for a Thursday reservation, no reply back. I seem to recall the dinner USED to be held on Thurs, recent years on a Friday for reasons you state. If you have any inside info about OSH scheduling, please let me know, I only find out during Airventure :-/

As to volunteering at the Aeroplane Workshop, the scheduling is done online now. Somewhat of a pain, but much easier for my boss Mark Forss. I'll send the link as soon as I know. Schedules are usually AM/PM slots, not all day.

I'm typically slinging epoxy at the build table (I don't like people! ;) ), other volunteers are chatting up the audience or helping in the slinging department.

Thanks, got it.

For those that are curious, I received a URL from my 'boss' at EAA to signup for the volunteer Aeroplane Workshop (as well as the general workshops) a few days ago. Not wanting to post the link to the general public where the script kiddies and/or spammers can pick it up, I forwarded the link per his desire to volunteer.

Not only do you get an ever popular volunteer T-shirt, assumed to be red this year too, you'll also receive a pretty nice name tag, the key to the executive wash room, as well as the schedule and location for the free grub (both AM and PM). The red T-shirt combined with the name tag is your entry pass... But where.... Hmmm....

Rick

PS: No word back from Roxy, will send them a follow up email shortly. I may even call.

Rick,

Sign Michelle and I up for a 4-hour shift (less is ok, just not more) “…extolling the virtues of the canard design to the public…” We are available Wed., 7/27 – 7/30. We are building a Cozy Mark IV and are on Chapter 19.

And sign us up as a yea (2 of us) on the dinner.

We’ll need details on the workshop location and the dinner time/location. We have not been to Oshkosh in ~8 years and have never been to the Cozy dinner.

Let us know if you have any questions or if we can be of further assistance.

Thank You,

Mike:

Most excellent! signup link is below, do the best you can. Make a note on the second page 'memo' field (it's a two page signup) that you can do AM or PM. I'll be at Airventure on Thursday, text my cell for details and the nickle tour 303-589-2063. The work is REAL casual in nature. EAA could probably use help at the composite Workshop too, a bit more structured, and more "See Spot Run" skill set. We (Aeroplane Workshop and Composite workshop) have been known to fill in if one or the other is short on help.

EAA will probably provide a red volunteer t-shirt, mystery meat sammich for lunch, and all the water/soda/gatorade you can drink. Oh, and after 20 hours of volunteer (in my division) you get a week long wrist band for next year.

All venues close together, look for homebuilt registration building on your maps, or the NE corner of airport, just before entering Warbirds.

Dinner is at the Roxy, an upscale supper club in downtown Oshkosh, around $20/plate plus drinks. Ground transport magically appears, and it MAY be on Friday. My memory ain't what it used to be.

Thanks again!

And sign us up as a yea (2 of us) on the dinner.

We’ll need details on the workshop location and the dinner time/location. We have not been to Oshkosh in ~8 years and have never been to the Cozy dinner.

Let us know if you have any questions or if we can be of further assistance.

Rick, my wife and I will be around for a Thursday dinner, and we will have ground transport for 4 more.

All:

It would be safe to assume there will NOT be a group dinner at the Roxy this year.
