Performance Prop for Somone

cozyfly342@...

I'm currently in the process of a long distance move.  I have a 62 x 72 Performance 3 blade prop that once flew on my Cozy 3 with a 150 hp  O-320.  It needs refinishing.  I'm willing to give it to someone. Problem is that shipping it anywhere is outrageously expensive.  It must be picked up locally in Grafton, MA  before August 25th.  Anyone out there interested?

Full Description:

Performance Props Laminated wood 3 - bladed prop

Condition: Used   Needs refinishing     Diameter 62” Pitch: 72”

Engine 0-320 150HP  - Design RPM 2800  - Prop Red Line RPM max 3200

7" diameter prop flange  -  4 3/4" bolt circle

Rutan Aircraft Flying Experience could use that and we’d be happy to pay the shipping

RAFE is welcome to take it.  I'm currently in the final stages of cleaning out our house for our move.  My plate is fuller than it's ever been at this point.  I've tried arranging shipping for a similar prop and found that neither USPS, UPS  or Fedex retail will take it. It needs to go freight and despite the fact that it only weighs 14 lb they want it on a pallet.   If RAFE is able to arrange pickup and shipping from Grafton MA you're welcome to it.  Here are some photos and dimensions:  Width 57"  Height 50" Thickness 5"  Weight 14 lb.

Thank! I understand your situation.,

Anyone on this list nearby that can pick this up and get it out  of the way while we research shipping options?

We were told no, no, and no by all shippers, then Randi carried it all protected in cardboard into our local postal substation where she knew the counter guy and he took it without any comment.

Cool; very good to hear that USPS is a possible option.
Thank you for that comment.

I Got 3 Performance Props many years ago via USPS.  Times change.  Sometimes not for the better.  The dimensional weight concept has driven freight prices out of sight.  Was quoted over $600 by Fedex Freight for a different prop.

That's nuts. Catto uses boxes that fit props and ships to your satisfaction. Call them for advice.

2 blade or 3 ?

Years ago I shipped a 3 blade performance prop with 3  boxes to fit over the blades by Greyhound bus, station to station at a very reasonable rate after the post office refused to accept the prop for shipping.
