Vertically oriented tape labels

Tom Staggs

All,

I have an original Brock quadrant, and the labeling has worn off over the decades. I am wondering if there is anyone out there who has access to a label printing machine that could print the following on tape either 5/16" or 1/4" -wide that says:

THROTTLE MIXTURE ALT AIR

Ideally, it would be printed vertically (example:

T
H
R
O
T
T
L
E

White text on either black or clear backgrounds is needed.

If any of you might have access to such a capability, please contact me directly at tjstaggs13@...

Thanks!

Any print shop can do this, and probably Staples or Office Max as well.

Hi Tom
I believe I can do it. I’ll check what size I can do tomorrow to confirm. Send me your address and I will mail them to you

I went to a trophy/awards shop and had them engrave me a plaque with vertical letters, as shown in the picture.

 Hi Christian,

How did you do that?

It would make a great Canard Aviation Magazine article

Alternatively you could print your decals on what I would call label slips/paper. - Peel-off with adhesive backing.

I use them for printing the labels on my home made jams. Oh, and on my Eze.

Print in Word with your font/back colour of choice.

A coat of varnish and you're done.

As I recall, my p-touch labeler will do vertical text. It is a stick on label, not a fancy engraved metal but works well for me. You can get various color combinations of tapes.   You have to set the labeler to do vertical, type in what you want and it will print it vertically. I need to double check though.

It will, quite easy if you use their 'app' on a Winders machine. If they still offer the app :-/

I labeled my panel with white letters on clear tape, still looks nice after 6-8 years. Can tell it's tape though, but the pilot/owner gets used to it ;)

Terry-
I have a K-Sun LabelShop 2010PC which is a stand-alone USB label 'dot matrix' printer.
The software runs on a PC and has many options, including importing text and graphics from external programs.
There are no buttons on the printer which takes 'standard' Epson cartridges, which you can get 'cheaply' & easily
from AliExpress or Amazon. Unfortunately, K-Sun is out of business, and is semi-acquired by Epson.
That model is no longer produced, but if you can find one, I highly recommend it.
As far as an article goes, it is pretty specific and pretty simple software specific, so it would not be much of an instructional.
In this case, to simplify, I adjusted the font size, and used the letter-enter-letter-enter...method to space it portrait,
and the end descriptions in normal but small font.
Also, the Epson compatible cartridges are available in handy shrink tube various sizes and cable flag wrap arounds, for labeling
your wiring runs: super handy.

Walmart sells
Label makers that work very nicely for 20 -30 bucks !

You might consider those.
