Surplus Cozy

I think he was asking around $45K in 2015 but I wouldn’t swear to that.  I didn’t see the price in my notes.

Eddie Eiland (not a mailing list member) is attempting to sell a flying COZY MKIV (N244CZ) that was built by Jonathan Farr and is now owned by non-pilot Garrett Womack (who apparently knows little if anything about COZYs). The airplane is in a hangar at Dublin, TX 9F0.

You can see pics and videos of the plane at:

as well as pics of the logbooks. I know exactly nothing about this plane firsthand, and the second hand info I had was that it's pretty rough and needs work. Could be a good project plane for someone handy. Or not - I have no idea.

I flew to Bourne Stage and looked at this plane twice in 2015 and got a ride in it. Initially tried to get Marc or James to do a prebuy but they were booked, traveling, to close to OSH.
Anyway I did get a local A&P to do a prebuy on the engine and he told me at least one cylinder needed to be replaced.  I think the builder did replace the cylinder later.
The original builder commuted between Texas and the East Coast, I think 400 or 600 hours worth.
It had a (manual) gear up landing at some point, there was cracked paint on the exterior under the canard so there could be some delamination there.
The landing gear teeth had been stripped and the gear was flipped over.
I suspect the canard incidence hadn't been changed from the original plans.  I don't recall if it had been shortened.
It had nice paint.  I don't recall the empty weight and other details, probably have it in a notebook here somewhere.  I don't know how much about it after I looked at it.
At the time, I wanted a flying plane, not a project so didn't buy it.
