Re: Uavionix tailbeacon in VariEze - ECHO

I don't mean to hijack the topic, but antennas don't have to be placed outside of the aircraft. My ECHO (both IN & OUT) installation is internal and out of the way. The "hockey puck" GPS antenna is Velcroed in the outboard floor of the spar box .

I don’t hear anyone who has used the tail beacon.....yet. I have the Echo in my Defiant which is a great package paired with the GRT GPS. However it was a very difficult install particularly in getting the setup with my two EFIS screens. The Vari Eze doesn’t have an EFIS so the install should be simpler I would think. There is a good case for having both adsb out and in as you can hook up a phone or iPad to display the in data. But the Echo requires another antenna. My transponder antenna is under the front seat. Those of you who have installed the Echo, where did you install the antenna? Internal? external? Has to be at least 3 ft from the transponder antenna. Steve
